Sledding<p>​</p><p style="color:#000000;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:"times new roman";font-size:medium;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;word-spacing:0px;white-space:normal;orphans:2;widows:2;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;">Reminder about sledding safety at school Student safety is our first priority, and although we do allow “crazy carpets” and soft sleds at our school, we do not allow hard sleds, two-person sleds or snow racers. We do supervise sledding and we remind students of safety rules on a regular basis.</p><p style="color:#000000;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:"times new roman";font-size:medium;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;word-spacing:0px;white-space:normal;orphans:2;widows:2;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;">We want to inform parents that if students are sledding at school, Ophea (the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) recommends that they should wear a properly fitted (as per manufacturer's guidelines) and properly worn CSA-approved hockey helmet or snow sport helmet certified by a recognized safety standards association.</p><p style="color:#000000;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:"times new roman";font-size:medium;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;word-spacing:0px;white-space:normal;orphans:2;widows:2;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;">If you send a sled and helmet (optional) to school with your child, you are giving permission for your child to take part in this activity.</p>

Grad Photos Photos<p>​<strong>GRAD PICTURES- </strong> It’s that time already! The date has been set to Tuesday, March 6. The Grade 8 Graduation Class will be having their pictures taken. The Senior Kindergarten students will be having their portraits taken that same day. </p>
Special Education Information Sessions Education Information Sessions<p>​​Parents invited to information sessions about special education. The SCDSB is hosting a series of information sessions for parents/guardians to learn about special education in the SCDSB, and how to support students with special education needs. <br>Feb. 26th Transition Planning Grade 8 to 9 </p><p>March 19th Accessing Supports in the Community.<br>April 16th Understanding Alternative/Non-Academic IEP Goals</p><p>All sessions take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the SCDSB Education Centre, located at 1170 Highway 26 in Midhurst. No registration required.  <br></p>
Youth Leadership Development Leadership Development<p>​​The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka offers Youth Leadership Development programs for youth in grades 5 to 12. Participants in our leadership programs often adopt healthier lifestyles, become volunteers in their community, make new friends, earn volunteer hours for school, acquire training certifications, travel to other countries and gain an understanding of their potential impact on their community.
